Which Exitguard R model should I choose?

Choose EX104R if the door is opened infrequently and no external power is available – batteries can last up to 3 years. Choose EX105R (12vdc) or EX106R (mains) if the door may be opened frequently or the sounder needs to operate for extended periods. Models with KM provide key monitoring, and RTKM models trap the key in the off position.

What is the difference between the R models and the G models?

The R models feature a distinctive red “DOOR ALARM” faceplate with clear warning signage “Alarm will sound if door is opened”, making them more visually prominent. The G models have a green and white design. Both series offer identical functionality and technical specifications.

How long do the batteries last?

On the EX104R battery powered models, the 6 x AA batteries can last up to 3 years depending on usage. The unit will continue to function for at least two weeks after a battery fault indication. The EX106R mains powered model includes backup batteries for power failure situations.

What is the door open too long (DOTL) delay?

The DOTL feature provides a pre-warn bleep before the full alarm sounds, giving authorised users time to close the door. The R models have default settings of 0 or 15 seconds which are jumper selectable on installation.

What is the auto sounder reduction feature?

After the alarm has been sounding for 2 minutes with the door closed, the sounder automatically attenuates to a periodic bleep every 30 seconds. The full alarm will restart if the door is opened again, preventing noise nuisance while maintaining security.

Can the Exitguard be connected to a remote alarm system?

Yes, the EX105R and EX106R models include an alarm relay output (SPCO 1A/30vdc volt free contacts) for connection to remote devices and alarm management systems. The EX106R can also power remote indicators and sounders with up to 200mA at 12vdc.

What is the safe set feature?

Safe set minimises false alarms by allowing pass through if the door is open when the system is armed. The system automatically sets itself when the door is closed, preventing alarms from sounding unnecessarily during setup.

How loud is the sounder?

The integral high power piezo sounder produces 105dB at 1 metre, with the actual level dependent on input voltage. Two selectable tones are available (high and low) to suit different environments.

What happens if someone tampers with the unit?

All models include an independent N/C lid tamper switch. When triggered, a separate tamper tone sounds which can be manually reduced via the keyswitch. The tamper feature is configured so that the alarm can still be set even if tamper security has been breached.

What accessories are included?

All Exitguard units are supplied with fixings, a surface door contact with 1 metre of 4 core cable, a door warning sign, and batteries where applicable. Additional accessories available include double door contact kits, remote sounders, and large warning signs.
