Summary

The Serage SRDTC5FW is a 5MP turret camera built for jobs where a black-and-white image at night simply isn’t good enough - think car parks, loading bays and residential entrances where your client needs to identify faces, vehicles and number plates after dark. It switches on a built-in warm white light to hold full colour through the night, and falls back to clean monochrome infrared (IR) footage if the white light is switched off.

For you on site, that means one camera spec covers both a standard low-light install and a full colour-at-night brief, without adding external illuminators or justifying a pricier spotlight camera to the client. The high-definition transport video interface (TVI) chipset also runs AHD, CVI and composite video baseband signal (CVBS) modes, so the SRDTC5FW slots into existing analogue recorder estates rather than forcing a system upgrade.

A 2.8mm fixed lens gives a 109.7° horizontal field of view from a single mounting point, and the metal turret body carries an IP66 rating for direct outdoor exposure. Audio over coaxial cable (AoC) lets you capture sound without pulling a separate audio line, and the unit is CE, FCC and RoHS 2.0 certified for electrical and EMC safety. Where the mounting surface needs adapting, the Serage Base for Small Dome and Bullet, Serage Wall Mount Bracket for Small Dome and Serage Corner Adaptor for Bracket are compatible accessories.

Features

  • 5MP progressive CMOS sensor - sharp enough detail for identification evidence, not just detection
  • Night Colour mode with 20m white light - keeps footage in full colour after dark without external illuminators
  • 30m IR range - clean monochrome coverage when the white light is switched off or in covert applications
  • 2.8mm F1.0 fixed lens - wide 109.7° horizontal field of view for covering entrances and yards from one mount point
  • Multi-format output (TVI/AHD/CVI/CVBS) - one camera works across mixed analogue recorder estates, simplifying stock
  • Audio over coax (AoC) - captures sound up to 7m without running a separate audio cable
  • IP66-rated metal housing - built for unsheltered outdoor mounting in wet or dusty conditions
  • -30°C to 55°C operating range - copes with exposed exterior positions through UK winters and summers
  • Up to 300m coax transmission - flexibility to run longer cable back to the head-end without a repeater
  • Low power draw (≤1W IR off, ≤4W IR on) - easier to budget power across multi-camera 12V DC runs

FAQ

Will this camera work with my existing analogue DVR, or do I need to re-cable the site?

It outputs TVI, AHD, CVI and CVBS, so it should run on most existing analogue recorders without re-cabling. You’ll still need to confirm your recorder supports the specific resolution/framerate combination you want (for example 5MP@20fps on TVI/AHD), as this varies by protocol and recorder model.

What’s the maximum cable run before picture quality suffers?

The datasheet quotes up to 300m using 5C-2V coax - a thicker, lower-loss cable than standard RG59. If you’re re-using existing RG59 runs, expect the usable distance to be shorter, so test signal quality at commissioning rather than relying on the 300m figure.

How do I control switching between night colour and IR-only mode?

The camera supports colour, extended colour and black & white day/night states, but the datasheet doesn’t specify whether switching is automatic (light-sensor driven) or manual via the on-screen display (OSD) menu. Check the OSD settings on commissioning, particularly if the client wants the white light disabled for covert use.

Can I power this camera over the coax cable using Baluns, the way I do video?

No - this camera uses audio-over-coax (AoC) for sound, but the datasheet specifies a separate 12V DC input for power, with no mention of power-over-coax support. Run a dedicated power feed sized for the camera’s consumption (up to 4W with IR on) rather than attempting to power it through a video balun.

Is this camera suitable for an exposed outdoor mount?

Yes - it carries an IP66 rating and a metal housing, and is rated to operate between -30°C and 55°C, so it’s built for unsheltered exterior positions. No additional housing should be needed for typical UK outdoor conditions.

Does analogue CCTV like this meet NSI/SSAIB or BS 8418 requirements for a monitored install?

The manufacturer’s data only confirms CE LVD, CE EMC, FCC and RoHS 2.0 certification - it doesn’t reference BS 8418, NSI or SSAIB codes of practice. Compliance with those schemes depends on the whole system design and monitoring arrangement, so check requirements with your certification body rather than relying on this camera’s spec alone.
