FAQ
What components are included in the CFEAPULLKIT?
The complete kit includes: Emergency assist pull cord unit (CFEAPULL), Low current power supply unit (CFEAPSUKIT), Over door indicator (CFEAODI), Cancel button (CFEARSP), Pull cord accessory pack (CFEACORD), and Disabled sticker pack of 5 (CFEADS).
Where should the pull cord be positioned for accessibility compliance?
The upper cord pull should be located between 800mm and 1000mm above floor level, while the lower cord pull should be exactly 100mm above floor level. The ceiling pull should be positioned so it’s readily accessible from the WC or bath. Knot the cord to ensure the lowest ring is 100mm from the floor and cut off excess cord.
How should the cancel button be positioned?
The cancel button should be positioned so that it is reachable from both the WC and from a wheelchair. This ensures accessibility for all users and compliance with Building Regulations Document M requirements.
What are the power supply requirements for the system?
The system requires a 12V power supply unit which should be fed from an isolating switched fused spur, fused at 3A. The mains supply should use fixed wiring with three core cable of no less than 1mm². The power supply unit should be situated in the corridor and appropriately marked and secure from unauthorised operation.
What cable requirements are needed for installation?
The system requires minimum 2 core 0.4mm² cable for the ELV wiring. Always segregate low voltage wiring from mains wiring. The circuit should be one continuous radial type circuit with no spurs, and is limited to one additional item from the Over Door Indicator, Pull Cord or Cancel units only.
How does the system operate during an emergency?
To place a call, operate the pull cord – LEDs will illuminate in the pull cord unit, cancel unit and over door indicator, with an internal buzzer sounding in the over door indicator. In normal state, the power supply unit power LED is lit. To reset the call, press the cancel button.
What standards does the system comply with?
The system should be installed in accordance with BS8300 recommendations and Building Regulations Approved Document M requirements. It conforms to Disability Rights Commission code of practice, English Tourism Council Recommendations, RNIB signage guidelines, and Equality Act 2010.
