Which cup fits my detector?
Detectortesters lists detector diameters up to 100 mm for the Solo 330 and up to 177 mm for the Solo 332. Check the detector’s shape and cup fit as well as its diameter.
Both dispensers work with compatible Solo smoke test aerosols and Solo access poles. For carbon monoxide testing, Detectortesters lists Solo C3 for both models.
Features
- Transparent test cup keeps the detector visible during testing
- Suitable for use at angles
- Compatible with Solo access poles
- Uses compatible Solo smoke test aerosols or Solo C3 CO test aerosol

Welcome to another Detectortesters Toolbox Talk tip. This week, I’ll be talking about the Solo 330 and 332 dispensers. The Solo 330 and 332 are used with the compatible Solo smoke and carbon monoxide aerosols, that are used to carry out functional testing of commercial fire detectors and residential fire and life safety alarms. So, which one are you going to use? The Solo 330 or the Solo 332?
The Solo 330, over the years, has become the industry standard for testing commercial fire detectors. The test cup has a diameter of up to 100 millimeters, which means it will accommodate commercial fire detectors available on the market.
The Solo 332, as you can see, has a larger test cup of 172 millimeters across, which is ideal for accommodating a residential fire and life safety alarms.
Okay, the key features of the Solo 330 and 332, one of them is the membrane around the top of the test cup. The membrane creates a seal around the detector alarm that’s actually under test. If the seal isn’t a good one, then you’re going to get dilution and longer times to alarm, or, in some cases, no time to alarm. The Solo 330 and 332 are also compatible with the Solo high access poles.
There are a range of Solo aerosols, both smoke and carbon monoxide, that are specifically designed for use within the Solo 330 and 332 dispensers. For smoke, we have Solo A5, which is a flammable aerosol. And then, we also have non-flammable alternatives in the way of Solo A10 and A10S, which got different size cans. For carbon monoxide, we have Solo C3, designed specifically for use only within the dispensers. It’s not designed for use by hand.
As always, if you have been watching, thanks for watching.
