FAQ
What is Ajax DoorBell?
Ajax DoorBell is an AI-powered video doorbell that combines a 2-way audio intercom, PIR motion sensor, object recognition, and IR-illuminated camera so you can see, talk to, and record visitors directly from Ajax apps.
What are the key features?
Highlights include smart IR illumination for night vision, configurable motion & object detection (people, pets, vehicles), live zoomable video, cloud/NVR archiving, video scenarios for alarm verification, privacy zones, and ONVIF support (firmware ≥ 2.377).
Which power sources can I use?
The doorbell accepts 12–24 V ⎓ DC or 16–24 V ~ AC, 50/60 Hz via the rear screw terminals. A BellKit adapter is included for wiring to an indoor chime if required,
Does it work on 5 GHz Wi-Fi?
No. DoorBell connects only to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks; ensure a stable 2–3-bar signal at the mounting spot.
How do I add DoorBell to my Ajax system?
In the Ajax app go to Devices → Add device, scan the QR code, name the device, pick a room, power it on, select your 2.4 GHz network, enter the password, and tap Finish. The camera will appear in the device list once online.
Can I set up a backup radio channel?
Yes. If a compatible hub is installed, open DoorBell settings → Connection → Backup radio channel, choose the hub, and tap Connect. Events and photo-verification will then transmit over Jeweller/Wings if Wi-Fi fails.
How do I reset the doorbell to factory defaults?
Turn the device off (hold the power button ≈ 3 s). Then press and hold the button for 30 s until the LED flashes violet every 1.5 s; the reset takes up to 2 minutes and ends in setup mode.
What do the LED colours mean?
- Green = boot or successful cloud link
- Red = error/shutdown
- Blue flashing = Access-Point setup
- White circle = call in progress
- Violet flashing = factory reset
- Green constant during firmware update
How do I update the firmware?
When a new version is available, a firmware icon appears in the app. Tap it in DoorBell states or settings and follow the on-screen instructions; the LED glows green while updating.
What maintenance is required?
Periodically wipe the lens and enclosure with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid solvents (alcohol, acetone, gasoline) to prevent damage or scratches that degrade image quality.
What happens when the tamper is triggered?
If the device is armed and detached from its SmartBracket, the LED flashes red continuously and a tamper alarm is sent; in disarmed mode it briefly lights green to log the event.
