Klaxon Sonos Beacon
Summary
The Klaxon Sonos Beacon (DC) is a versatile general purpose beacon designed for industrial, security, and safety applications. This innovative beacon features the revolutionary TimeSaver base system, where all electrical connections are made to the base during the initial wiring phase, resulting in significantly faster and more reliable installations.
The beacon head simply ‘twists and clicks’ into the pre-wired base during commissioning, completely eliminating the wiring and connection problems traditionally associated with alarm devices. This first fix approach reduces installation time whilst improving reliability and reducing potential points of failure.
Available in both deep base and shallow base configurations, the deep base units offer weatherproof protection to IP65, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. The Sonos Beacon utilises a full-faced, translucent case design which provides a much larger lens area compared to traditional beacons, delivering superior light distribution and greater spread of illumination for enhanced visibility.

FAQ
What is the TimeSaver base system?
The TimeSaver base is an innovative installation system where all electrical connections are made to the base during the initial wiring phase. The beacon head then simply ‘twists and clicks’ into the base during commissioning, eliminating traditional wiring problems and reducing installation time.
What’s the difference between deep base and shallow base units?
Deep base units offer IP65 weatherproof protection and include dual 20mm cable glands, making them suitable for outdoor applications. Shallow base units have IP21 protection and are primarily designed for indoor use. Deep base units are slightly heavier at 0.25kg compared to 0.22kg for shallow base units.
What lens colours are available?
The Sonos Beacon is available with red, amber, clear, blue, and green lens options to suit different application requirements and regulatory standards.
Can the beacon be used outdoors?
Yes, the deep base variants are weatherproof to IP65 and can be used in all locations both indoors and outdoors. The shallow base units with IP21 protection are recommended for indoor use only.
What voltage range does the beacon operate on?
The Sonos Beacon operates on a wide voltage range of 10-60V DC, making it compatible with most fire and security system power supplies.
Does the beacon have synchronised flash capability?
Yes, the Sonos Beacon includes synchronised flash functionality, allowing multiple beacons to flash in unison for enhanced visual impact and compliance with emergency signalling requirements.
