In our latest team spotlight, we speak to one of our company directors Tariq, on everything he loves about Huvo (formerly Discount Fire Supplies), and what life looks like outside of work.
What’s your job role?
I’m one of the company directors, along with my brother Nadim.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
My background is in web development and I always enjoy spending my spare time tinkering with the Huvo website.
What do you think is the most important skill that you bring to your team?
I’d like to consider myself a pragmatic problem solver who tries to consider all angles when tackling the unforeseen curve balls we face.
If you had to describe the culture of Huvo in 3 words, what would they be?
Committed, reliable and positive.
What do you like doing outside of work?
I’m a father of three busy boys and outside of work I focus on enjoying this time before they stop wanting to hang out with me! We love traveling, basketball and movies.
If you could see any band/artists living or dead who would it be?
I would love to have been in the crowd watching the Talking Heads Stop Making Sense gigs they did in LA in 1983.
If you could invite 2 people, living or dead, to a dinner party, who would they be?
Inspired by recently listening to the Rise and Fall Of Oasis podcast (recommended by Lynne AKA Mum) I’d invite Liam & Noel and spend the evening thrashing out the details of a reunion tour.
What is your favourite place to eat in Swansea?
Istanbul Restaurant never disappoints and the owner Hari is considered one of my extended family!
People would be surprised if they knew…
In 2018 I opened a Mexican restaurant with a friend which we ran for 3 years. Plenty of ups and downs including beating Wahaca to the best Mexican award at the 2019 Food Awards Wales.
