What applications is this power supply suitable for?

This PSU is specifically designed for security applications including intruder alarm systems, access control equipment, and general security installations where reliable 24VDC power with battery backup is required.

How long will the battery backup last during a power outage?

The backup duration depends on the connected load current. With 2 x 7Ah batteries providing 14Ah total capacity at 24VDC, a 1A load would run for approximately 14 hours, while a 5A load would run for approximately 2.8 hours.

What do the different LED indicators mean?

The Fault LED (red) indicates output or battery fuse failure. The Mains LED (green) shows normal mains power. The Battery LED shows orange during charging, green when fully charged, and red during discharge/backup operation.

How does the tamper detection work?

The unit features lid open and box removal tamper detection through volt-free contacts. The tamper contact is normally closed when the unit is properly mounted to the wall with the lid closed, and opens when tampered with.

Can I use different capacity batteries?

The unit is designed for 2 x 12V 7Ah lead acid batteries. While other capacities may physically fit, the charging circuit is optimized for 7Ah batteries. Using different capacities may affect charging performance and backup duration.

What protection features are included?

The PSU includes electronic short circuit and overload protection (under mains operation), mains transient protection, input and output fusing, and automatic electronics shutdown until faults are cleared.
