VESDA-E VES Aspirating Smoke Detector

SKU: 7ee449bf04ef
SKU: 7ee449bf04ef Category: Brand:

Summary

The VESDA-E VES builds upon the flagship VESDA-E VEP aspirating smoke detector technology, adding revolutionary sector addressability capabilities that enable a single fire zone to be divided into four separate sectors. This advanced configuration incorporates a valve mechanism in the inlet manifold and sophisticated software to control airflow from the four sectors, making it ideal for applications such as distinguishing between separate aisles within a data room or monitoring different areas within a single protected space.

Available in two models – the VES-A00-P with LED indicators and the VES-A10-P featuring a 3.5″ LCD display – the VES series enables users to locate the source of smoke by identifying the first sector to reach the Alert level. The detector continues to sample from all sectors to monitor fire growth and reports separate alarm levels for each sector, providing unparalleled situational awareness for faster incident response.

Built on the revolutionary Flair detection technology with years of application experience, VES detectors achieve consistent performance over their lifetime through absolute calibration. The system provides four individually configurable alarm levels (Alert, Action, Fire 1 and Fire 2) for each sector, allowing optimised protection across the widest range of applications while maintaining the superior detection performance and minimal nuisance alarms that define the VESDA-E platform.

FAQ

What is sector addressability and how does it work in the VES?

Sector addressability allows the VES to divide a single fire zone into four separate sectors using a valve mechanism in the inlet manifold. The system draws air from all sectors, but when smoke levels reach the Adaptive Scan Threshold, it quickly scans each sector to identify which one contains smoke. The first sector to reach Alert level becomes the First Alarm Sector (FAS), enabling precise source location for faster response.

What is the difference between VES-A00-P and VES-A10-P models?

Both models offer the same sector addressability and detection capabilities covering up to 2,000 m². The VES-A00-P features LED indicators for status display, while the VES-A10-P includes a 3.5″ LCD display that shows detailed sector status pages with smoke level bar graphs, alarm threshold indicators, and user-configurable sector names for enhanced visualization and control.

How does the adaptive scan threshold feature work?

The adaptive scan threshold automatically triggers when smoke levels reach a predetermined point. Once exceeded, the VES display transitions from the Home page to the Sector status page, and the system performs a fast scan of all sectors to identify which sector is carrying smoke. This enables rapid identification while maintaining continuous monitoring of all protected areas.

What applications benefit most from sector addressability?

Sector addressability is particularly valuable in large open spaces that need to be subdivided for operational purposes, such as data centers with separate server aisles, warehouses with distinct storage zones, large office floors with departmental areas, or manufacturing facilities with different production zones. It enables faster incident response by pinpointing the exact location of smoke detection.

Is the VES backward compatible with existing VESDA installations?

Yes, the VESDA-E VES maintains backward compatibility with existing VESDA installations. It occupies the same mounting footprint, pipe, conduit and electrical connector positioning as VESDA VLS. The VES is also compatible with existing VESDAnet installations, allowing monitoring of both VESDA-E and legacy detectors via the latest VSC and VSM4 applications.

How are the individual sector alarm levels configured?

Each of the four sectors can be individually configured with four alarm levels: Alert, Action, Fire 1, and Fire 2. This allows optimization for different environmental conditions within each sector. The system supports both latched and non-latched alarm configurations, and if alarms are latched, the sector alarm indication will be retained until a manual reset is applied.
