What fire alarm panels is AMX compatible with?

AMX is compatible with Kentec Taktis EN & UL, Syncro AS and Elite RS panels, as well as Hochiki HFP and FireNET Plus panels. For Taktis and Latitude panels, connection is via Ethernet using a Media Gateway card (K794) which must be installed in slot F of the panel. For Syncro AS, Elite RS, HFP and FireNET Plus panels, connection is via RS232 serial communication using the panel’s printer port. Note that Elite RS/FireNET Plus panels fitted with a dialer cannot be connected to the graphics system.

How many user accounts can be created in AMX?

AMX supports up to 2,000 user accounts, each with unique login credentials. Users can be assigned one of three access levels: Operator (basic features for day-to-day operation), Manager (advanced features for configuration, backups, and user management), or Engineer (full access for installation, commissioning and maintenance).

What are the minimum PC requirements for running AMX?

The minimum PC requirements are: Intel Pentium 5 processor or better, Windows 10 Professional operating system, 8GB RAM minimum (16GB recommended), 320GB minimum disk space (larger is better), 1920 x 1080p monitor, standard speakers or monitor with built-in speakers, standard 2 button mouse with scroll wheel, minimum 1 LAN port, and minimum 4 USB ports. A Windows compatible A4 printer (laser or inkjet) is also required.

What types of history logs does AMX maintain?

AMX maintains five types of history logs: Event History (all alarms, faults, resets, and services with categorization options), Control History (all control actions initiated via the software), Isolation History (all isolations initiated via the software), User History (user login and logout records), and System History (software shutdowns, user actions summary, configuration changes and operating faults). Each log can store up to 32,000 events per day with no limit on retention duration.

Can AMX monitor multiple fire alarm panels simultaneously?

Yes, AMX can monitor multiple alarm networks simultaneously and supports up to 64 panels in a network. The system supports multiple PC connections through TCP/IP groups, allowing for distributed monitoring across a facility using existing IP infrastructure.

What connection methods are available for linking AMX to fire panels?

Connection methods depend on the panel type and distance. For Taktis/Latitude panels, connection is via Ethernet using a CAT 5 cable to the Media Gateway card. For Syncro AS/HFP/Elite RS/FireNET Plus panels, connection is via RS232 serial. For distances up to 15m (50ft), use the S187 Software Download Lead with an isolated USB-RS232 converter. For distances up to 1km (3280ft), use the S572 USB to RS232 converter kit which includes RS232-485 interface card and isolated RS485 to USB adaptor.

What is the default password for a newly installed AMX system?

The default password for a newly installed AMX system is “Pixmore7” (case sensitive), which provides full engineer access. It is strongly recommended to set up one or more unique Engineer level users at installation and delete the default password. Engineer level passwords should be kept safe as there are no back-door passwords available.

What control functions can be performed remotely through AMX?

When using Syncro Enhanced node type settings, AMX allows the following remote control actions: Reset Panel, Silence Network Alarms, Disable/Enable Device, Disable/Enable Zone, Evacuate Panel, Alert Panel, Silence Panel Alarms, Evacuate Network, Reset Network, and Alert Network.
