What does the FireProtect detector detect?

FireProtect detects both smoke and rapid temperature changes. It uses a photoelectric sensor to detect smoke particles and a temperature sensor that triggers an alarm when the temperature exceeds 60°C or rises by 30°C within 30 minutes (without necessarily reaching 60°C).

How long do the batteries last?

The pre-installed batteries provide up to 4 years of autonomous operation. The device uses 2 x CR2 batteries as the main power supply and 1 x CR2032 battery as backup power. You’ll receive notifications when batteries need replacement, and the detector will emit sound signals every 90 seconds when batteries are low.

What is the wireless range of FireProtect?

FireProtect can communicate with the Ajax hub at distances up to 1,300 meters in line of sight using the Jeweller radio protocol. The actual range depends on obstacles like walls, floors, and large objects that may interfere with radio signal transmission.

Can FireProtect work without an Ajax hub?

Yes, FireProtect can operate autonomously without connecting to a security system. In autonomous mode, it will notify you of detected fire or smoke with the built-in siren and LED indication, but won’t send notifications to your smartphone or monitoring station.

How do I turn off the alarm when it’s triggered?

There are three ways to turn off the siren: 1) Press the Ajax logo on the device lid (touch button), 2) Use the Ajax app on your smartphone, or 3) Press the “*” button on KeyPad/KeyPad Plus (if the Interconnected Fire Detectors Alarm feature is enabled and properly configured).

Where should I install the FireProtect detector?

Install the detector on the ceiling at the highest point where hot air and smoke concentrate during a fire. Do not install it outdoors, near metal objects or mirrors, in areas with fast air circulation, closer than 1 meter to cooking surfaces, in areas with extreme temperature/humidity, or closer than 1 meter to the Ajax hub.

What is the Interconnected Fire Detectors Alarm feature?

This feature activates the built-in sirens of all fire detectors in the system when at least one detector is triggered. It helps alert as many people as possible during a fire emergency. The feature is supported by FireProtect detectors with firmware versions 3.42 and later, and can include a delay of 0-5 minutes before activation.

How loud is the alarm?

The built-in buzzer produces an 85 dB alarm at a distance of 3 meters, which is loud enough to be heard from a considerable distance and wake sleeping occupants.

How do I test the smoke detector?

You can test the detector by pressing the sensor button (logo center) for a few seconds. The detector will test the smoke chamber with electronic simulation of smoke generation and then activate the siren for 6 seconds. You’ll receive a notification in the Ajax app with the test results.

What does the HazeFlow algorithm do?

HazeFlow is a software algorithm designed to prevent false alarms. When smoke is first detected, the system performs a verification check. If smoke is still detected after 30 seconds during the second check, the alarm is activated. This helps filter out false triggers from dust, steam, or other non-fire particles.

What are the operating conditions for FireProtect?

FireProtect operates in temperatures from 0°C to +60°C with humidity up to 80%. It has an IP65 protection class for dust and water resistance. The device is designed for indoor use only and should not be exposed to extreme environmental conditions.

How do I know if the smoke chamber needs cleaning?

The detector automatically monitors dust levels in the smoke chamber and will notify you via the app when cleaning is needed. It will also beep every minute and a half when the chamber becomes too dusty. Regular cleaning is essential for proper operation.

What happens if the detector fails or reaches end of life?

The FireProtect detector has a lifespan of up to 10 years. If a detector failure occurs, you’ll receive a notification that it needs to be replaced or submitted for comprehensive diagnostics. The device continuously monitors its own functionality and will alert you to any issues.
