Ajax FireProtect 2 AC (CO) Jeweller in Black

Summary

The FireProtect 2 AC (CO) Jeweller is a wireless, mains-powered fire detector equipped with carbon monoxide (CO) sensors. It is designed to provide accurate CO detection, warning when the concentration reaches a dangerous level of 50 ppm, well before the first signs of poisoning occur. The detector is powered by 110-240 V~ mains and includes a sealed backup battery, ensuring continuous operation even during power outages throughout its 10-year lifespan.

With enhanced wireless interconnection capabilities, the detector can synchronously notify of a fire alarm through both primary (via Ajax hub) and fallback (detector-to-detector) interconnections. This ensures reliable fire detection and notification, even if the connection with the hub is lost.

Features

  • Warns when CO concentration reaches 50 ppm
  • Accurate CO detection for up to 10 years
  • Regular polling and automatic self-diagnosis
  • Up to 1,500 m of wireless communication
  • Built-in 85 dB siren and LED indication
  • Quick installation with SmartBracket and WAGO connectors
  • Remote control and configuration via app

FAQs

What is the FireProtect 2 AC (CO) Jeweller and what does it detect?

The FireProtect 2 AC (CO) Jeweller is a wireless mains-powered fire detector with built-in CO (carbon monoxide) sensors and a backup battery. It’s designed for indoor installation and detects dangerous levels of carbon monoxide in the air. The detector warns when CO concentration reaches 50 ppm before the first signs of poisoning occur and can accurately detect CO levels for up to 10 years.

How is the detector powered and what happens during a power outage?

The detector is powered by 110-240 V~ mains power and includes a sealed backup battery. Even during a power outage, the detector continues to operate, ensuring reliable fire detection throughout its 10-year lifespan. The green LED indicates power status – constantly on when using external power, flashing once per minute when running on backup battery.

At what CO levels does the detector trigger an alarm?

The detector raises an alarm when CO levels reach:

• 50 ppm (0.005%) and above — within 90 minutes maximum
– 100 ppm (0.01%) and above — within 40 minutes maximum
– 300 ppm (0.03%) and above — within 3 minutes maximum

The detector stops warning when the concentration drops to 40 ppm (0.004%).

How do I test the detector and what does the Test/Mute button do?

To test the detector, press lightly on the center of the front panel (Test/Mute button) for 1.5 seconds. The button has multiple functions:

• In normal mode: starts detector self-test
– During alarm: mutes the detector alarm for 10 minutes (cannot be muted if CO level exceeds 300 ppm)
– During malfunction/low battery: mutes sound and LED indication for 12 hours
– In network mode: starts network coverage area testing

What do the different LED colors mean?

The detector has three LED indicators:

Green LED: Power status (constantly on with external power, flashing with backup battery), connection status, tamper status
Yellow LED: Malfunctions, low battery warnings, tamper alarms, end of life indication
Red LED: CO alarms (flashes 3 times every 3 seconds during alarm), self-test indication, alarm restoration

What is the Interconnected Fire Detectors Alarm feature?

All FireProtect 2 AC detectors in the system can synchronously notify about fire alarms through two methods: primary (via Ajax hub) and fallback (detector-to-detector). When an alarm occurs, the hub activates the primary interconnection in 20 seconds, while the initiating detector simultaneously activates the fallback interconnection. Even if connection with the hub is lost, the interconnected alarm takes only a minute to propagate.

What should I do if the CO alarm goes off?

If you hear the CO alarm:

1. Immediately open all doors and windows to ventilate if safe
2. Stop using and turn off all fuel devices where possible
3. Evacuate from the premises leaving doors and windows open
4. If you have headache and nausea, get medical help immediately
5. Call your gas or fuel supplier’s hotline
6. Avoid re-entering until the alarm stops
7. Do not use fuel/gas appliances until checked by registered installers

NEVER IGNORE THE ALARM! Even if symptoms disappear after ventilation, the solution may be temporary.

Which Ajax hubs are compatible with this detector?

The detector is compatible with Ajax hubs running firmware OS Malevich 2.18 and later. Hub (4G) Jeweller must have OS Malevich 2.28 or later to support this detector. The detector can also work without a hub in autonomous mode, but you won’t receive notifications on Ajax apps.

How long does the detector last and when should it be replaced?

The service life of the detector is 10 years. After this period, the sensitivity of the sensors may decrease, and you should replace it with a new one. When the device reaches end of life, the yellow LED flashes 3 times in a row every minute, and the siren beeps 3 times every minute. The detector must also be replaced when the backup battery is completely discharged.

Where should I install the detector and where should I avoid installing it?

Install the detector in the center of the ceiling, 30 cm away from light fixtures or decorative objects. The coverage area is 50-60 m² depending on premises type. Install in every room for optimal protection.

Avoid installing:

• Outdoors or in areas with temperature/humidity outside permissible limits
– Near fans, vents, or areas with fast air circulation
– In room corners or closer than 1-1.5 meters to open flame sources
– In areas with low Jeweller signal strength
– In high or inconvenient places where the Test/Mute button cannot be accessed

How do I maintain the detector?

The detector has a self-test system and requires minimal maintenance. Clean the enclosure of dust, cobwebs, and contaminants using a soft dry cloth. Do not use substances containing alcohol, acetone, gasoline, or other active solvents. We recommend running periodic self-tests (monthly) to familiarize people with alarm sounds and LED indications. Connected devices are constantly monitored by Ajax hubs for faults, low battery, and end-of-life signals.
