Summary
The Hochiki CHQ-CB is an addressable ceiling-mounted visual alarm device (VAD) for warning building occupants during a fire, and it takes its power straight from the fire alarm loop, giving it a single loop address via the TCH-B200 without a separate power cable run.

That matters on site because it cuts down on cabling and containment, which means fewer trades to coordinate and a faster first fix, particularly useful where loop capacity is tight and you need addressability without adding a conventional power circuit.
You get coverage options of 5m, 7.5m, 10m or 15m diameter from the same unit, so you can match the device to the room rather than stocking multiple product lines, and it fits a wide range of existing ESP bases, including sounder bases, so it drops into installs already using that base family.
Features
- Loop-powered addressing - single loop address via TCH-B200 with no separate power cabling to run
- Four coverage diameters - choose 5m, 7.5m, 10m or 15m to suit the room without changing product line
- High intensity LED with free-form optic - produces a highly visible flash for reliable occupant warning
- Selectable light output - tune intensity to the install where the panel supports it
- Choice of case and LED colour - ivory, white or red casing with red or white LEDs to suit the scheme
- Wide ESP base compatibility - fits a range of existing bases, including base sounders, so it works into established ESP installs
- PSU powered option - alternative powering route where the panel supports it
- Weatherproofing kit compatible - IP21 as standard, rising to IP33 with the CHQ-WPK kit
- EN54-23:2010 Category C approved

FAQ
The CHQ-CB is loop-powered and takes its single loop address via the TCH-B200, so it’s designed to sit on an existing ESP loop without extra power cabling. The selectable light output and PSU powered option are panel compatibility dependent, so check these against your specific panel before relying on them. The base depends on the case colour you order. Ivory cases use YBN-R/3, YBN-R/3(SCI) or YBO-BS; white cases use YBN-R/3(WHT), YBN-R/3(WHT)-SCI, YBO-R/SCI(WHT-SNDR) or YBO-BS(WHT); red cases use YBO-R/3(RED) or YBO-R/SCI(RED). As standard the CHQ-CB is rated IP21, which is an indoor/dry-area rating. Fitted with the CHQ-WPK weatherproofing kit it steps up to IP33, though VdS approval in that configuration only covers Type A, so confirm that’s sufficient for the scheme you’re working to. Hochiki rates its VADs as X-Y-Z, where X is the category (O for open, W for wall, C for ceiling), Y is the maximum mounting height in metres, and Z is the coverage floor diameter in metres. For this ceiling unit you’d choose from 5m, 7.5m, 10m or 15m coverage based on the room dimensions and the mounting height you’re working with. The CHQ-CB flashes at 0.5 or 1 Hz; the 15m coverage diameter is achieved using the white LED at 0.5Hz. If you need a specific frequency for a particular layout, check this against the coverage diameter you’re specifying. The datasheet lists case colour (ivory, white or red) and LED colour (red or white) as separate choices, so some combinations beyond the standard pairings may be possible. Confirm the exact combination and ordering code with the manufacturer before specifying anything non-standard.Will this work with my existing ESP loop and panel?
