Quantec Network Splitter
£21.39 (inc VAT: £25.67)
Summary
The C-TEC Quantec Network Splitter (QT603) is an essential wiring and installation aid for C-TEC’s Quantec Addressable Call System. Designed to simplify installation whilst providing robust network protection, the QT603 helps protect against open and short circuit faults and reduces the risk of volt drop.
The network splitter features one input and one output connection for Quantec’s ‘Spine’ wiring (typically 1.5-2.5mm T&E) and six fused 400mA ‘limb’ connections for the wiring of individual circuits containing Quantec’s field devices (typically 4 core stranded security cable). At least one QT603 is required per Quantec system, with multiple splitters making programming and fault-finding easier.
Installation is straightforward, with the splitter mounting on a standard 25mm UK double gang back box. Power and Fault indicators provide clear status information, whilst the unit can support up to 60 addressable devices per splitter. For optimal performance, install one QT603 per corridor junction, locating it at the end of the corridor nearest to the Quantec Controller. For corridors longer than 50m, install the splitter in the centre to reduce wiring runs.

FAQ
How many QT603 network splitters do I need for my Quantec system?
At least one QT603 is required per Quantec system. The more splitters you use, the easier it will be to program and fault-find. Install one QT603 per corridor junction, locating it at the end of the corridor nearest to the Quantec Controller. For corridors longer than 50m, install the splitter in the centre of the corridor to reduce wiring runs.
What cable types should be used with the QT603?
Spine wiring should use 1.5mm² or 2.5mm² T&E cable. Limb wiring should use a minimum of 4 core stranded security cable (7/0.2 mm² strand) twisted into one pair to reduce voltage drop. Do not wire any devices to the spine other than network splitters.
How many devices can be connected to each QT603 splitter?
Each QT603 network splitter supports a maximum of 60 addressable devices. With 6 limb connections available, you can connect up to 15 addressable devices per limb, with a maximum length of 60 metres per limb.
What is the maximum spine length for the Quantec system?
For a typically loaded system, the maximum length for a single spine using 1.5mm² cable is 150m, whilst 2.5mm² cable allows up to 250m. The maximum combined length of all spines and limbs is 750m.
How does the fault indication work on the QT603?
The QT603 features both Power and Fault LED indicators. If a short circuit occurs on any limb and the circuit resistance is low enough, the fuse will blow and the yellow Fault LED will illuminate. The fault will be reported to the QT601-2 Controller for easy identification and resolution.
Where should I locate the Quantec Controller?
The Quantec Controller can be located anywhere on the network, although it is normal practice to install it centrally to reduce wiring runs, ideally in a manager or supervisor’s office. Distribute splitters evenly throughout the site and locate at an accessible height.
