What is the C-TEC ENV-GD?

The ENV-GD is an optional GPRS communications dongle for the C-TEC ENV-HUB ENVISION IoT Gateway Hub. It enables the hub to communicate with C-TEC’s ENVISION cloud platform using a GPRS mobile connection.

What is the ENV-GD used for?

The ENV-GD adds GPRS connectivity to an ENV-HUB, allowing the hub to connect to the ENVISION platform without relying solely on its standard Ethernet connection.

Does the ENV-GD include a SIM card?

No. A compatible SIM card is required separately for GPRS connectivity.

Does the ENV-GD work on its own?

No. The ENV-GD is designed as an optional connectivity accessory for the C-TEC ENV-HUB and requires a compatible ENV-HUB to operate with the ENVISION system.

Where is the ENV-GD installed?

The ENV-GD mounts internally inside the C-TEC ENV-HUB.

Does the ENV-GD replace the ENV-HUB?

No. The ENV-GD adds GPRS connectivity to the ENV-HUB; it does not replace the gateway hub itself.

Does the ENV-GD replace an ENVISION software licence?

No. The ENV-GD provides the communications connection between the ENV-HUB and ENVISION. Access to the full ENVISION software feature set is subject to the relevant ENVISION software subscription requirements.

What systems can be monitored through ENVISION?

C-TEC’s ENVISION platform is designed for use with compatible C-TEC systems including ZFP CAST, XFP CAST, HUSH and EVAC-ALERT systems when connected through the appropriate ENVISION gateway.

Can the ENV-GD be fitted inside the ENV-HUB?

Yes. The ENV-GD mounts inside the ENV-HUB, keeping the GPRS connectivity hardware contained within the gateway enclosure.
