KeyPad Plus Jeweller supports multiple authentication methods including Ajax Pass cards and Tag key fobs using DESFire® technology, keypad codes (general code for the keypad), user codes (personal codes for registered users), access codes for people not registered in the system, and RRU codes for rapid response units. Each method can be used to arm, disarm, or activate Night Mode.

How many codes can I create on KeyPad Plus Jeweller?

The number of codes depends on your hub model. KeyPad Plus Jeweller supports 1 keypad code, 1 keypad duress code, up to 200 personal user codes (depending on hub model), up to 99 access codes for unregistered users (depending on hub model, not supported on Hub (2G) Jeweller), and RRU codes (supported on hubs with OS Malevich 2.17 or higher, except Hub (2G) Jeweller). Codes can be 4 to 6 digits long.

What is a duress code and how does it work?

A duress code allows you to simulate alarm deactivation while secretly alerting your security company and other system users. When you enter a duress code instead of your regular code, the Ajax app and sirens will not give you away, but the security company and other users will receive a silent alarm notification about the incident. Both general and personal duress codes are supported, as well as duress codes for access users.

What is the wireless range of KeyPad Plus Jeweller?

KeyPad Plus Jeweller communicates via the Jeweller protocol with a range of up to 1,700 meters (5,550 feet) in open space. The actual range depends on the environment, obstacles such as walls and floors, and interference from other devices. You can extend the range using Ajax radio signal range extenders.

How long do the batteries last in KeyPad Plus Jeweller?

With the pre-installed 4 × AA (FR6) lithium batteries, KeyPad Plus Jeweller operates for up to 3.5 years under default settings. Battery life depends on usage frequency, environmental conditions, and settings such as backlight brightness and button volume. When batteries are low, the system sends notifications and KeyPad Plus Jeweller can continue working for up to 2 months after the low battery alert.

Can KeyPad Plus Jeweller control security groups?

Yes, KeyPad Plus Jeweller supports group mode when enabled on your hub. You can assign the keypad to control all security groups or a specific group. When controlling multiple groups, you enter the Group ID after your code to specify which group to arm or disarm. If the keypad is assigned to a specific group, you don’t need to enter the Group ID.

What happens if I enter the wrong code multiple times?

If an incorrect code is entered or unverified Pass/Tag is used more than 3 times in a row within 1 minute, KeyPad Plus Jeweller locks for a pre-set time (configurable from 3 to 180 minutes in settings). During this time, you cannot disarm the system via the keypad, but you can unlock it through the Ajax app. The system and security company are notified of the unauthorized access attempts.

Does KeyPad Plus Jeweller work without internet connection?

KeyPad Plus Jeweller requires connection to an Ajax hub, which needs internet connectivity for full system functionality and remote management. However, local user accounts can be created that allow keypad operation even without internet, though remote management and notifications will not be available during internet outages.

What is the Function button (*) used for?

The Function button has three configurable modes: Off (disabled), Panic (sends alarm to security company and all users when pressed), and Mute Interconnected Fire Detectors Alarm (mutes Ajax fire detector alarms when Interconnected Fire Detectors Alarm is enabled). With OS Malevich 2.31 or higher, you can enable accidental press protection requiring the button to be pressed twice.

Can I use third-party cards and key fobs with KeyPad Plus Jeweller?

Yes, KeyPad Plus Jeweller supports third-party cards and key fobs that use DESFire® technology based on the ISO 14443 international standard with 128-bit encryption. Before adding third-party devices, ensure they have enough free memory to handle the keypad. Ajax recommends the devices be pre-formatted for best results.

What Ajax hubs are compatible with KeyPad Plus Jeweller?

KeyPad Plus Jeweller is compatible with Hub (4G) Jeweller, Hub Plus Jeweller, Hub 2 Jeweller, Hub 2 Plus Jeweller, Superior Hub Hybrid, and Hub Hybrid (4G) running OS Malevich 2.11 or higher. It is NOT compatible with Hub (2G) Jeweller, third-party security control panels, or the ocBridge Plus and uartBridge integration modules.

How do I install KeyPad Plus Jeweller?

Installation involves: 1) Adding the device to your Ajax system by scanning the QR code in the app, 2) Testing signal strength at your intended location using the temporary adhesive tape, 3) Mounting the SmartBracket panel to the wall using the provided screws, 4) Sliding the keypad onto the bracket and securing with the bottom screw. The keypad should be installed indoors, 1.3-1.5 meters above the floor, near the entrance for convenient access.
