What is the FireProtect 2 (CO) Jeweller?

FireProtect 2 (CO) Jeweller is a wireless fire detector with a built-in carbon monoxide (CO) sensor and siren. It’s designed for indoor installation and can detect dangerous CO levels. The detector can operate as part of an Ajax security system or work autonomously without a hub.

What’s the difference between SB and RB versions?

The FireProtect 2 (CO) comes in two versions: SB (Sealed Battery) with built-in batteries that last up to 10 years, and RB (Replaceable Battery) with replaceable batteries that last up to 7 years. The SB version must be replaced entirely when batteries are depleted, while the RB version allows battery replacement.

What CO levels does the detector respond to?

The detector raises an alarm when CO levels reach: 50 ppm (0.005%) or above in no more than 90 minutes, 100 ppm (0.01%) or above in no more than 40 minutes, and 300 ppm (0.03%) or above in no more than 3 minutes. The detector stops warning when CO concentration drops to 40 ppm (0.004%).

How does the interconnected fire detector alarm work?

All FireProtect 2 detectors in the system can synchronously notify about fire alarms through two methods: primary (via hub) and fallback (detector-to-detector). When danger is detected, the initiating detector sends an alarm to the hub, which activates all fire detector sirens in 20 seconds. The fallback system works even if hub connection is lost, raising interconnected alarms within a minute.

What is the wireless communication range?

The detector communicates with the hub via Jeweller protocol with a range of up to 1,700 meters (5,550 ft) in open space without obstacles. The actual range depends on environmental factors like walls and interference.

Where should I install the FireProtect 2 (CO)?

Install the detector indoors on the wall at 1.5m from the floor or on the ceiling. It covers 50-60 m² depending on premises type. Install one detector per room, especially in areas where fuel-burning appliances are used (garage, kitchen, boiler room). Maintain 30cm distance from light fixtures and decorative objects.

Where should I NOT install the detector?

Do not install the detector outdoors, in places with poor Jeweller signal, in areas with extreme temperature/humidity, near fast air circulation (fans, vents), in room corners, near lighting fixtures, closer than 1-1.5 meters to open flames, or in high/inconvenient places where the Test/Mute button cannot be accessed.

How do I test the detector?

Wait at least 3 minutes after turning on the detector, then press and hold the Test/Mute button (center of front panel) for 1.5 seconds. You can also run tests through the Ajax app. During testing, the red LED flashes 5 times, then 3 more times slower, with the siren beeping in sync.

What should I do if the CO alarm sounds?

Immediately open doors and windows for ventilation if safe, stop and turn off fuel devices, evacuate leaving doors/windows open, seek medical help if experiencing headache/nausea, call your gas supplier’s hotline, avoid re-entering until the alarm stops, and don’t use fuel appliances until checked by registered installers or experts.

How do I add the detector to my Ajax system?

Open the Ajax app, select your hub, go to Devices > Add Device, enter the device name, scan the QR code (located under the mounting panel), select virtual room and security group if enabled, then click Add. The detector should be within the hub’s communication range during pairing.

Can the detector work without a hub?

Yes, FireProtect 2 can operate autonomously without an Ajax hub. In autonomous mode, it notifies of dangerous CO levels using only the built-in siren and LED indication. Users won’t receive notifications on Ajax apps, but the detector continues to protect against CO poisoning.

What do the LED indicators mean?

Red LED flashing 3 times every 3 seconds indicates CO alarm. Red LED flashing every 4 seconds means muted alarm. Yellow LED lighting for 1 second indicates tamper alarm. Green LED lighting for 1 second shows the detector is properly installed. Green LED flashing once per minute indicates normal operation with good battery.

How do I replace batteries in the RB version?

Only the RB version allows battery replacement. Remove the detector from the SmartBracket panel, replace the 2 × CR123A batteries ensuring correct polarity, reinstall the detector, and run a self-test to verify proper operation. The SB version must be entirely replaced when batteries are depleted.

What is the Battery Life Optimization feature?

This feature extends battery life by increasing the ping interval for FireProtect 2 detectors. It’s available for hubs on OS Malevich 2.14 or higher and is enabled by default. When disabled, SB version battery life reduces to 5 years (from 10) and RB version to 3.5 years (from 7).

How do I clean and maintain the detector?

Clean the detector enclosure with a soft dry cloth to remove dust, cobwebs, and contaminants. Don’t use substances containing alcohol, acetone, gasoline, or other active solvents. Run periodic self-tests to familiarize people with alarm sounds. The detector has a 10-year service life, after which sensors may lose sensitivity.
