Mains poweredHardwired interlinkThree-storey kit

Large Property Fire Alarm Kit — Mains (Grade D1)

SKU: large-property-fire-alarm-kit-d1 | Brand: Wisualarm by Dahua | Category: ,

A complete mains-powered fire alarm kit for three-storey homes or larger properties.

  •   Sealed 10-year battery backup — no battery replacement, minimal maintenance.
  •   Smoke and heat alarms can be hardwire interlinked by your electrician during installation. Standalone CO alarm sounds locally (this is fully compliant).
  •  Want the CO alarm linked to the system and/or want to make it easier to add alarms in other areas later? Choose the Mains with Wireless Interlink version instead. That kit includes RF modules that interlink all alarms wirelessly.
  •   Fuel-burning appliances in more than one room? You’ll need an extra CO alarm for each additional room. In Wales, this also applies to rooms with gas cookers.
  •   Scotland: homes also need a smoke alarm in the main living area (one per living area if there’s more than one).
  •   Installation requires a qualified electrician (mains connection).

What's in the Box

  • 3 × Wisualarm mains smoke alarms, one per floor in the hallways and landings (3 × DHI-HY-SA5MA)
  • 1 × Wisualarm mains heat alarm for the kitchen (1 × DHI-HY-HT5MA)
  • 1 × Wisualarm carbon monoxide alarm (standalone) (1 × DHI-HY-GC20D)

Suitability

This kit is suitable for three-storey houses and larger homes, new installations and upgrades to existing properties, and properties where a fixed mains-powered system is preferred.

It provides LD2 level of protection: smoke detection in escape routes such as hallways and landings on each floor, and heat detection in high-risk areas such as the kitchen. This is the standard level of protection for most UK domestic properties.

For a full breakdown of typical system layouts by property type, see our Fire Alarm Systems by Property Type guide. [/fire-alarm-systems-by-property/]

This kit follows a standard UK domestic fire alarm layout for large properties: smoke detection in escape routes on each level, heat detection in the kitchen, alarms interlinked at installation so all occupants are alerted simultaneously, and carbon monoxide protection as standard.

It is based on the same approach used in residential fire alarm installations across the UK and provides reliable long-term protection with minimal maintenance.

Installation

This is a mains-powered Grade D1 system. Connection to the mains supply requires a qualified electrician.

Where interlink wiring is present or being installed, your electrician makes the interlink connection between the smoke and heat alarms directly, with no additional components required.

If you are installing in an existing property where running an interlink connection between alarm positions is not practical, see the Mains with Wireless Interlink version of this kit, which uses RF modules to interlink the alarms wirelessly instead. [/large-property-fire-alarm-kit-d1-wireless/]

The smoke and heat alarms in this kit are interlinked by your electrician during installation, via a hardwire interlink connection, so that when one alarm activates, all alarms sound simultaneously throughout the property. This gives everyone the maximum possible time to escape.

The CO alarm in this kit operates as a standalone device. This is standard practice in UK homes, where CO alarms are rarely connected to the interlink circuit. The CO alarm still sounds locally when carbon monoxide is detected, and the system remains fully compliant — CO alarms are not required to be interlinked anywhere in the UK.

If you would prefer the CO alarm to be part of the interlinked system, or you may want to add more alarms later, choose the Mains with Wireless Interlink version of this kit. That version includes RF modules that interlink all devices, including the CO alarm, wirelessly — and lets you add further wireless alarms in other rooms later without running new cabling. Carbon Monoxide Protection

A carbon monoxide (CO) alarm is included as standard. CO alarms are recommended for any property with a fuel-burning appliance such as a gas boiler, oil boiler, wood-burning stove or solid fuel fire.

In this kit the CO alarm operates as a standalone device — it sounds locally when carbon monoxide is detected. This is normal and fully compliant; CO alarms are not required to be interlinked anywhere in the UK. If you would prefer the CO alarm to be part of the interlinked system, choose the Mains with Wireless Interlink version. [/large-property-fire-alarm-kit-d1-wireless/]

One CO alarm is included. Properties with a fuel-burning appliance in more than one room will need an extra CO alarm for each additional room (available to add to your order).

England: a CO alarm is required in any room with a fixed combustion appliance (for example a gas boiler, oil boiler, wood-burning stove or solid fuel fire). Gas cookers are excluded.

Wales: a CO alarm is required in any room with a gas, oil or solid fuel appliance — and, unlike England, this includes rooms with a gas cooker.

Scotland: a CO alarm is required in any room with a carbon-fuelled appliance or a flue.

If you are unsure how many CO alarms your property requires, the System Finder will confirm this based on your property details. The full nation-by-nation requirements are also gathered in the Regional Compliance tab.

Regional Compliance

England: this kit meets standard LD2 domestic fire alarm guidance for large properties. A CO alarm is required in any room with a fixed combustion appliance (excluding gas cookers).

Wales: rented homes must have mains-connected, interlinked smoke alarms on each storey — once the alarms in this mains kit are interlinked at installation, it meets that requirement. A CO alarm is required in any room with a gas, oil or solid fuel appliance, and unlike England this includes rooms with a gas cooker.

Scotland: all homes must have a smoke alarm in the main living area (one per living area if there’s more than one) in addition to the escape route detection included in this kit. Additional smoke alarms are available separately and can be added to this kit to meet Scottish requirements.

Note: the mains interlinked alarms provide compliance. Any additional battery alarms added in other rooms are extra protection on top of the required system, not a substitute for it.
